Lectures: (1) Introduction to Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (4 hrs); (2) Laboratory safety (1 hr); (3) Scientific literature (2 hr) |
| Week 2 | Workshop on scientific ethics (1 hr); REU participants' presentation on their perspective research projects

| Week 3 | Teacher curriculum development meeting; Workshops on career perspectives, graduate school applications/graduate studies, and GRE preparation (4 hrs); Panel discussion with graduate students and faculty members;

| Week 4 | Frequent student-faculty meetings; Introduction to techniques necessary to address research problem; RET will work up to 14 hours this week on curriculum development

| Week 5-8 | Write introduction and methods section of final report paper; Field trip to Nissan Plant for participants; K-12 teachers will start working on Teaching Modules for Classroom; REU participants will update on their progress, discussion of data analysis and interpretation

| Week 9 | Wrap up field work; begin analyses; Finishing up Teaching Modules for Classroom

| Week 10 | REU Research Colloquium; Finalize research reports and other deliverables with faculty mentors; Establishment of a REU participant contact information database
