The new 500MHz NMR spectrometer features 1H-19F/15N-31P 5mm PFG OneNMR probe, Microprobe and Low temperature Probe -185 C. It is ideal for structural study of larger/more complex organic molecules and biological macromolecules. The Microprobe available provides the capability to obtain spectra with micro-grams of sample. The remote access feature allows users to connect to the main unit for  instrument operation and data retrieval/processing from computers on-campus as well as computers from partner institutions at Millsaps College, Mississippi College, Tougaloo College, and University of Mississippi Medical Center. On-site technical support is also available.

The facility is funded by the National Science Foundation through the major research instrumentation grant (NSF MRI0821375)

Personnel and supply for the facilities are supported from a grant from NIH (National Institutes of Health) through the RCMI (Research Centers in Minority Institutions) program, the Office of Research Development & Federal Relations, and the Department of Chemistry at JSU.
